Dovedale Halls: Hayashi is a purpose-built facility completed in 2018 of 16 two-storey townhouses to accommodate individual students and couples in their second year of study and beyond. It is located on the Dovedale campus adjacent to Dovedale Halls: Sonoda and approximately 15 minutes' walk to main campus facilities.
Although identical in appearance there are two layouts totalling 90 rooms including 10 self-contained units. One layout contains five rooms on two floors. The second layout contains five rooms plus a self-contained unit. Three townhouses have wheelchair accessible facilities. Each house offers shared kitchen, living, bathroom, and laundry facilities and is thermally insulated with energy efficient appliances.
Dovedale Halls: Hayashi is owned by the University of Canterbury and UniLodge Auckland Ltd is proud to be contracted in partnership to manage the services for the hall on their behalf. UniLodge is fully embedded in the wider University of Canterbury student support environment making connections with support services on campus as well as external services.

Shared Kitchen and Dining Room
Modern Communal Kitchens: Experience the convenience of a fully equipped kitchen right outside your door. Our cooking stations include all the necessary large appliances to make daily life seamless. Please note that residents are responsible for their own personal dining sets (cutlery, plates, etc.); these are available for purchase via our student portal or at reception.
Integrated Living Areas: Our dining and lounge zones are designed to be an extension of your room. With comfortable seating and ample dining space, it’s an ideal environment for both socializing and casual study sessions.
